PCGI Rock Climbing Guide and Rock Climbing Instructor Certification standards are nationally recognized. PCGI Rock Climbing Guide Certification standards have been adopted as requirements for commercial rock climbing guides and/or rock climbing instructors operating within many U.S. Department of the Interior - National Park Service areas, including but not limited to: Joshua Tree National Park, New River Gorge and Devils Tower National Monument.

Joshua Tree Guides Independently Provides the Following PCGI Courses and Assessments via approved PCGI mentors and assessors that are also guides for JTG. If none of the dates listed below work for your schedule and you have a minimum of two people in your party, please contact us, as we can often arrange customized course and/or assessment dates. 

Please also note that assessments directly preceding courses are only arranged that way for scheduling purposes. We do not recommend nor does PCGI recommend taking any level of assessment directly after you have taken a course.

Top Rope Guide Course -  

Dates: March 6-8, November 1-3, May 1-3

Cost: $360.00

Top Rope Guide Assessment - 

Dates: March 9. November 4, May 4

Cost: $110.00

Lead Guide Course - (includes the rescue course component that also qualifies for the rescue pre-requisite needed for entering the Multi-Pitch Guide Course)  
Dates: February 15-19  & Dec 1-5, May  5-9

Cost: $430.00

Lead Guide Assessment -  

Dates: February 20-21 & December 7-8

Cost: $200.00

Rescue Assessment (Passing the "rescue assessment" is required to become Multi-Pitch and/or Lead Guide Certified, but is not required to simply enter the MPG or LG assessment. The Top Rope Guide standard has a separate set of rescue requirements within the TRG course and assessment standards) 

Dates: February 19  & December 6

Cost: $100.00

Rescue Course -  

This course is  pre-requisite for the Multi-Pitch Guide Course

Dates: October 1-2

Cost: $250.00

Multi-Pitch Guide Course -  

Dates:  October 4-11, May 10-17

Cost: $1,300.00 

Multi -Pitch Guide Assessment

Dates: October 15-18

Cost: $1,100.00 


Continuing Education Credits:

All levels of courses and/or assessments listed above can also be used for continuing education requirements

2 Day/16 hour Continuing Education Credit Class -  

Cost: $200.00 - arranged upon request

All programs except continuing education credits include a mandatory 1-2 hour preliminary meeting to be held the morning of the start date of every program.
